A magical oasis of tropical enchantment, Poppies Samui lies on a white sandy beach in the fabled Gulf of Siam. Located at the South end of Chaweng Beach, well away from the hustle and bustle of the main resort area, this very special hideaway offers the same sense of escape and tranquility as its famous namesake in Bali. Stonewalls hide a private heaven a private haven of bubbling streams and waterfalls, of wooden bridges and meandering paths bordered by vivid flowers and lush foliage. Between the gardens and the sea lie a crystal clear, free form swimming pool with natural rock surrounds and a sparkling jacuzzi. The reception area with its solid wooden pillars, fine teak panelling and locally hewn marble floors only hints at what lies beyond. Poppies has its own unique Spa called , "Body Care" which offers a wide selection of Thai herbal massage programmes and beauty treatments, including facials, pedicures and mud wraps in a delightful open-air sala by the pool. Just 24 identical cottages hide amid the greenery, each combining the best of Thai style with Western comforts. The carved roof panels, doors and furniture are of solid teak, and the fabrics are of finest Thai cotton and silk. Screened windows and inner doors, leading onto a private terrace, let in the sea breeze. As would be expected, individual air conditioning, ceiling fan, personal safe, well stocked mini bar, television and hair dryer come as standard. The unique bathroom with its own private garden open to the sky, features a sunken bathtub and shower set in a cool marble floor. Poppies restaurant, located between the swimming pool and the beach, is firmly established as the restaurant of choice in Samui. Dine under the stars overlooking the beach and the sea or in the magnificent Ayuthaya style teak pavillion. The menu combines the very best of international and Thai cuisine with the emphasis on fresh seafood, and is complimented with a broad selection of fine wines from around the world. On the beach itself is Poppies Bar, where cocktails, refreshing drinks and meals are served from early morning till late at night. Rates are per room per night. Rates include tax and service and do NOT include breakfast. Rates are valid for single or double occupancy and children under 12 years old (maximum of 2) may stay in the parents room free of charge. Maximum capacity of one cottage is 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small children. NOTE This hotel is very small, very luxurious and very popular. Please do book well in advance to avoid any disappointment. |
